Garment rack against a curved galvanized steel wall

Kwame Adusei

Kwame Adusei is the Beverly Hills atelier of Ghanaian-born designer Nana Kwame Adusei, a luxury house built on draping: the same technique once used to shape Kente cloth, reworked into a genderless, architectural language of fit. Housed in a former art gallery, the space keeps that gallery instinct intact, with white walls, industrial steel, and a private rear entrance built for a clientele who move through Beverly Hills without being seen moving through it. ARC INDEX documented the store as both retail environment and design object, the point where garment construction and spatial construction share the same discipline.
